And from what I have read, there are lots of folks out there who must be as dumb as me since these forums are full of Sonar and CW 9 complaints. I buy a product to do a specific task and if it doesn't work as advertised I return it. I got tired of Cakewalk always needing to update their program every year to fix the bugs in the last issue.

Try a search and you'll find a thread bashing EVERY software on every platform, but PCs in particular can be frustrating if one doesn't have an interest in truly learning the inner workings of Windoze. Protools has the advantage of fairly common and proprietary hardware for the machines they run on, whereas PC's can have virtually unlimited combinations of hardware and software and their corresponding buggy drivers.

I'm personally impressed that these things work as well as they do considering. It took some homework to get there, though, and having a machine dedicated to audio I believe makes all the difference. You don't see many pros using PCs in general, except for Giga and maybe Acid. I would never attempt a real session at work with Cakewalk, or any other software, but it's fine for me at home. Again,If you can't get Cakewalk I have a dedicated music computer and it has worked flawlessly on every program I have installed except Cakewalk.

I therefore find it hard to believe it's the computer or the operator. I don't hear large amounts of complaints about Sound Forge 4. Just my. And it appears that it pastes them all right on top of eachother because no other windows are opened when it's opening all these different clips and I can't find a way to open or get to the other clips that were "supposedly" opened, and it "only" plays the last little section of the song.

I don't know why it's doing this, I thought for sure that combining all the little snip-its onto track that it would import the whole track but it still only imports small sections. I suppose I could just do what I did before and export the whole track to a. Thanx in advance for any help you can give. Because it does have. It opens up MP3s with no problem but I tried to open a. I am coming from a Win98se system. It was downloadable for trying, in a less than fully functional manner. There were a number of add-ons, or plug-ins, to extend it capabilities. I purchased the program and the four main add-ons years ago. After installing everything, and entering the serial numbers on the Win7 system, things seemed fine, but I only tried a few simple operations on a couple of audio files.

The main program was definitely registered and in normal operating mode. I installed ten to 20 other applications, some of which required on-line activation and registration. A couple of these required considerable effort to get everything done properly.

When I finally tried to really use CoolEdit, I found that the most-used add-on was not registered; it was in demo mode, which is not very functional. The main program and the other three add-ons were properly registered. Whether the single lack of registration was because I missed entering the serial number to begin with or because something happened afterwards, I do not know.

However, the program would not accept the serial number, declaring it invalid. Later I found out from a user forum that if things are not done in a certain sequence when installing and registering the parts, problems are very likely.
