I want use it at home for the kids giving them a "restricted user" account so they can't add programs or get into trouble. When I tried to add a user the system says I can't add a user to the domain that was originally set up on the computer. I can't get any support from my company for this. I'd just like to get rid of all of the domain stuff. I just want have an administravtive account for me an a simple user account for the kids.

The system is running ok without it but i am not able to unjoin it — John. In my experience you have to enter the credentials of the Domain you are leaving.

There should be a drop down on the login dialog box that allows you to choose between logging in to the domain or the computer itself called "this computer" I think. Choose "this computer". Login using the computers administrator account and password. Right click on My Computer, choose Properties. Choose the Computer Name tab.
