All of our services are voluntary. We can help you to strengthen your roles in the community, improve your independence, and reach your wellness and recovery goals. Some of our services are offered on a drop-in basis at select Pittsburgh Mercy locations. Others are available in the community. Services, locations, and referral criteria vary. Some programs require a referral from a member of your treatment team.

For more information, please contact us at Certified peer specialists are people who have firsthand experience with mental illness, are working on their own recovery, and are trained to help others in their recovery. Our certified peer specialists work with you 1-to-1 to help you build the skills you need to recover and live well in the community.
Whether your goal is to find, get, or keep a job, or to live on your own, we can offer help and empower you to identify, choose, and achieve your recovery goals. The Certified Peer Specialist Program also runs the Paths to Wellness group, a peer-run program that helps adults who have mental illness through 1-to-1 wellness coaching, community resources, and activities.
The Paths to Wellness group produces the Community Activities Network CAN Newsletter, a free monthly e-newsletter to help people connect socially through community events and activities. Printed copies are available upon request.
A Decision Support Center is a place where you can learn how to express your needs and participate in decisions that affect your care. Referrals to this program must be made by a mental health provider or the justice system. An Extended Acute Care EAC Facility is an intensive residential program that is designed to be a step between a hospital stay and your return to the community.
The EAC offers an intensive, structured, and recovery-oriented program in a safe, secure environment. A Long-Term Structured Residence LTSR is a highly-structured, secure residential treatment facility for adults, age 18 and over, who at this time in their lives need additional support to maintain a community placement.
LTSRs are designed for those who need long-term treatment and assistance around-the-clock, but do not need to be admitted to a hospital.
Socialization, rehabilitation, therapy, and medical monitoring services are provided in a safe and secure environment.
Groups and activities are designed to increase your self-awareness, sensitivity to others, independent living skills, and enhance enjoyment of life. We work with you to develop an individualized treatment plan that identifies goals to assist in transitioning you to a more independent living environment as soon as appropriate. You and your supports are important parts in your treatment process.

Pittsburgh Mercy offers many residential services that are designed to support adults who have a mental illness to maintain their own residence in the community.
We offer mental health and drug and alcohol assessment, education, support, and after-care services to persons with mental illness and persons with mental illness and addiction co-occurring disorders who are involved with justice-related services and the treatment courts. Our program focuses on:. To be eligible for this program, you must be referred through the justice system or the treatment courts.
Sometimes people have difficulty leaving their home to get the care they need to overcome emotional illness. Persons can receive mental health services at home or at other convenient locations in the community. MMHT therapists work with persons who have depression, anxiety, hoarding, or other disorders that make it difficult to seek treatment. We also work with those dealing with mental health issues who have difficulty getting to the office due to transportation or health challenges.
A Partial Hospitalization Program PHP is a short-term day program for individuals who are experiencing significant distress and need more intensive treatment and support. A Partial Hospitalization Program may be able to help you prevent a hospital stay, gain control of your life, and move toward independent care. It may also be able to help you between a hospital stay and your return to the community. We offer two Partial Hospitalization Programs — one for adults and one for children.
Our adult program is located on the South Side. Our child and adolescent program is located on the North Shore. Participants in our Adult Partial Hospital Program attend a minimum of six hours of group services five days a week in addition to weekly appointments with a psychiatrist. Services focus on wellness and recovery. We also offer groups for people who are experiencing addiction. Lunch is provided. To be eligible for the Adult Partial Hospitalization Program, you must be at least 18 years old and have a referral from a member of your treatment team.
Our Residential Services offer many opportunities for you to receive the services you need while living in the community. All are recovery-oriented and designed to promote community inclusion. As an integrated behavioral and physical health care provider, Pittsburgh Mercy provides special teams that include a physician, service coordinator, therapist, and registered nurse to help people 55 and older who face complex mental health and physical health challenges. Returning to civilian life after military service can be a challenge for veterans and their families. Pittsburgh Mercy offers services to help veterans and their families with problems stemming from addiction, mental and physical health issues, incarceration jail , and return to civilian life.
